THE LUMINA TALE

Long ago, after the kingdoms of the Egg Folk had spread across the world and peace had settled upon the land, the Great Mother Hen looked upon her creation and saw that shadows still lingered beyond the borders of the world. Wishing to protect her children, she asked five of her First Seven Arucana if they would descend from the heavens to walk beside the Egg Folk as guardians. They accepted this sacred charge willingly, swearing to defend the kingdoms, guide their people, and preserve the Light for all generations.

For countless ages, they remained faithful to their oath.

They stood beside kings and queens, protected villages from the creatures that crept from the darkness, and brought wisdom wherever fear threatened to take root. The Egg Folk came to love them, and under their watch the kingdoms flourished.

But as the ages passed, pride quietly found its way into their hearts.

Having guarded the world of eggs for so long, the five began to believe that it belonged not to its people, but to those who had protected it. They journeyed to the Great Mother Hen and asked that the world be given to them as their kingdom.

The Great Mother Hen answered with compassion, yet her judgment could not be changed.

"The world of eggles was not meant to be possessed," she said, "What you seek is not born of duty…it is born of pride." and the request was denied.

Though they departed in silence, bitterness took hold of their hearts.

Believing they could claim the world by another path, the five secretly mingled their divine yokes with those of chosen Egg Folk, hoping to create descendants who would one day inherit the world in their name.

Instead, they brought forth terrible monsters.

Their offspring spread across the kingdoms like a plague, filling once-peaceful lands with fear, corruption, and suffering. The cries of the innocent rose to the heavens, and the Great Mother Hen knew that those who had once been the world's greatest protectors had become its greatest threat.

Calling upon her divine siblings, the gods descended to the Eggverse. They gathered the five fallen Arucana and banished them forever from the realm they had betrayed. The gods sealed away a great number of the monstrous offspring in the deepest, most secret places of the earth. The rest were left to face the world they had broken and went into hiding.

From that day forward, they were remembered by a new name—

The Infernal Five.

The gods gathered high above the world. Their radiant light joined together, shining across the heavens as one magnificent star so brilliant that every kingdom beneath it was bathed in its glow.

The Great Mother Hen declared,

"Let this day forever be known as Lumina, for on this day the Light triumphed over pride, and hope overcame fear."

In remembrance of that heavenly star, the Egg Folk placed a single burning candle atop the tallest tree in every village, gathering beneath its light to celebrate peace, share gifts, feast with family, and tell the story of the day the gods saved the world.

As the centuries passed, villages became cities, and homes replaced village squares. The great trees of old gave way to evergreens brought indoors, and the lone candle was replaced by a shining star. Though the tradition changed with time, its meaning never did.

Even now, when the Star of Lumina is placed upon the tree, every Egg Folk is reminded that the brightest light is not born from power, but from humility... and that those who forget they were called to serve may one day lose everything they sought to possess.

Cluckles

More than three hundred years before the adventures of Dirk Hodgkins, there lived an eccentric inventor named Nicholas Cluckenheim. Though gifted with an extraordinary mind and a talent for creating ingenious toys, gadgets, and whimsical machines, Nicholas lived a quiet and lonely life. With no family of his own to celebrate Lumina, he resolved to spend the holiday bringing joy to others.

Each Lumina Eve, Nicholas donned his warm red coat, climbed aboard a remarkable steam-powered sleigh of his own invention, and traveled through his village delivering handcrafted toys and clever inventions to egglets and gifts to eggles alike. Before long, his yearly journey expanded beyond his hometown, reaching neighboring villages whose egglets eagerly awaited the arrival of the cheerful inventor with the snowy white beard. Inspired by his surname, Nicholas affectionately became known as "Cluckles."

When Nicholas Cluckenheim passed away, the kindness he had shown was never forgotten. Parents continued telling their egglets that Cluckles still made his annual journey on Lumina Eve, bringing gifts to those who filled the year with kindness and generosity. As the generations passed, the story spread from village to village until it became one of the most beloved traditions in all the Eggverse.

Today, Cluckles is celebrated as the joyful spirit of Lumina. His likeness—white beard, bright red coat, and steam-powered sleigh—appears throughout the holiday season, reminding Egg Folk that the greatest gifts are not toys or inventions, but the kindness, generosity, and hope that one good Egg can inspire for generations to come.
